Briana Marela is a Peruvian Americ
an composer, vocalist, and performing artist based out of Oakland, CA. Usi
ng her voice as a focal point, she makes use of visually engaging elements
of tech augmented gestures and objects to compose and perform her music l
ive. Her gestural and lyrical song performances draw from elements of both
experimental electronic music and vocal driven pop music. Using a visual
programming language and machine learning, she is able to make custom tool
s to create compositions with varying fixed elements that transition into
moments of improvisation.
Her newest full length release My Inner R
est, is due to be released on June 6th via AKP Recordings. Marela has self
-released past albums, as well as releasing records with Jagjaguwar, Surfa
ce World and PIAPTK.
Denver-based doom/sludge metal band Oryx re
turns to Tucson on April 26th at Wooden Tooth Records. They'll be joined b
y locals Manguera and Black Baptist. We're excited to have our longtime fr
iends back in Arizona.

uitars, synth), Abigail Davis (drums), and Joshua Kauffman (bass). ORYX is
